BLUETONGUE UPDATE
DEFRA have announced that from 00:01 on Monday 21st July 2008, the Protection Zone will be extended in to parts of North Yorkshire. From Monday 21st July 2008, all of our farming clients will be within the PZ and will be able to start vaccinating their animals.
To order vaccine for your animals you must know your 'holding number' issued by DEFRA and then telephone the surgery on (01423) 862121 to confirm the numbers of cattle and sheep that you need to vaccinate.
Cattle and sheep over 1 month of age can be vaccinated. Cattle require two doses of vaccine 3-4 weeks apart. Sheep only require a single dose of vaccine.
Further information on the vaccine is available from Intervet and DEFRA. Please use the links below.
